Gli Stray Cats sono una band formata dal cantante e chitarrista Brian Setzer con Slim Jim Phantom e Lee Rocker.
Nata nel 1979 nello stato di New York in piena ondata punk, si caratterizza per lo stile rockabilly degli anni ’50.
Nel 1980 gli Stray Cats si trasferiscono nel Regno Unito dove incontrano il produttore Dave Edmunds che ottiene un contratto per la pubblicazione nel 1981 dell’album che porta il loro nome. Il successo in Europa è immediato e il gruppo tenta di replicarlo in patria.
Purtroppo si rivela effimero e negli anni a seguire si succedono tentativi discografici, ripetute separazioni e riunioni, lasciando quella del 1981 una fortunata, passeggera, esperienza.
