Il gruppo si forma intorno al 1992 in seguito all’incontro tra il chitarrista Matt Slocum e la cantante Leigh Bingham Nash e tre anni dopo pubblica il primo album.
Negli anni la band si arricchisce di musicisti e conquista una certa fama anche all’estero. Nel 2004 ci sarà la separazione degli artisti, anche se ufficialmente qualche anno dopo avviene una riunione.
I Sixpence None the Richer (che traggono il loro nome da uno scritto di C. S. Lewis) hanno sempre affiancato alla produzione originale delle proprie canzoni la registrazione di cover di canzoni di altri. Tra queste voglio segnalare una bella versione di There She Goes.
