I Mazzy Star sono un gruppo rock statunitense che ha avuto il proprio periodo di successo nella seconda metà degli anni ’80, proseguendo poi fino allo scioglimento a fine anni ’90. Nel 2011 si sono riuniti per pubblicare il loro quarto album.
Il gruppo si avvale della presenza della cantante Hope Sandoval, che è anche autrice dei testi, e del chitarrista David Roback, autore delle musiche, a cui si aggiungono altri musicisti nei vari dischi e concerti.
Il loro momento di massima notorietà è il periodo centrale degli anni ’90, grazie alla pubblicazione nel 1993 del secondo disco che contiene il loro maggior successo: la ballata acustica Fade Into You dai toni sognanti.
