Selezione musicale 123 – Dusty Springfield Spooky
Dusty Springfield (1939 – 1999) è stata una cantante inglese di grandissimo successo non solo per l’ambiente musicale, ma anche per l’impatto sul costume, in modo paragonabile a quello che Mina ha avuto in Italia.
La sua carriera inizia nel 1958 quando risponde a un annuncio su un giornale e si unisce al gruppo musicale delle Lana Sisters, lasciando la scuola. Incontra già un primo successo, ma nel 1960 lascia il gruppo e forma il trio the Springfields, insieme al fratello e a Tim Feild.
La carriera del gruppo non è molto lunga, si sciolgono infatti del 1963 perchè capiscono che il cambiamente musicale che sta attraversando la Gran Bretagna li renderà inadatti al nuov opanorama.
Intraprende quindi la carriera solista, che le darà molte soddisfazioni per tutto il decennio, con l’album A Girl Called Dusty, un lavoro che vede la presenza di autori non ancora molto noti, ma che in seguito caratterizzeranno la scena pop internazionale: Burt Bacharach, Randy Newman e Carole King.
Il brano Spooky è la cover di un brano strumentale che Dusty Springfield ha interpretato nel 1968 e che qui propongo in un bel filmato d’epoca.
