Selezione musicale #14 – 10000 Maniacs Because The Night
Ancora una volta, in questa serie musicale, cado su una cover. Si tratta di Because the Night che è un brano scritto da Bruce Springsteen all’inizio della sua carriera. Il caso volle che trovandosi a registrare il suo disco in uno studio a fianco di quello in cui si trovava Patti Smith decise di cederle la composizione, la Smith la riadattò (tant’è che il brano è ascritto ad entrambi) e la pubblicò sul disco Easter del 1978 e come singolo principale ottenendo un grosso successo.
Il brano ha avuto diverse riletture e nel 1993 i 10.000 Maniacs hanno pubblicato una propria versione come singolo e l’hanno poi proposta anche nella serie live MTV Unplugged. E’ questa versione, cantata da Natalie Merchant, che propongo qui.
