Ecco un altro di quei brani particolari che mi piace scovare e segnalare. Si tratta ancora una volta di una cover. Il brano è Hurt, composto da Trent Reznor ai tempi dei Nine Inch Nails. E’ stato infatti pubblicato nel 1994 sull’album The Downward Spiral.

Il brano è decisamente notevole nella sua versione originale, quella dell’autore. Ma quando nel 2002 Johnny Cash ne fece una delle sue ultime interpretazioni prima della morte, all’interno della serie American, gli diede una lettura essenziale ed affascinante. Anche perchè il testo sembra adattarsi in maniera impressionante a Cash stesso. (nota: per correttezza occorre segnalare che nella versione di Cash ci furono alcuni lievi adattamenti, ma più che altro per alterare un paio di termini che urtavano il suo spirito di devoto Cristiano ed è quello riportato sotto)
